Drabble: Overeager

“Too many!” a boy yelled.

Heads turned to a nearby tree, where the dark-haired boy and his robot rabbit sat underneath. Scattered between them was a sea of buttons of all kinds of shapes and colours, all gathered by the robot rabbit. The robot rabbit’s nose twitched, but otherwise didn’t react to the boy’s outburst.

With a sigh, the boy gathered the buttons into a pile. Out of the colour hill, he chose a small, unremarkable black button. With the help of a little glue, he stuck it to a tiny car that was missing a steering wheel.

The boy rocked back on his heels and looked at his project.

“Need some little people,” he muttered to himself.

The boy’s eyes widened and he slapped his hands over his mouth, but the damage was done. The robot rabbit dashed out towards the playground. The boy quickly chased after it before the rabbit kidnapped any kids.
