Drabble: Everybody Knows

Everybody knows that the man who lived on the hill is a murderer who killed his whole family when he was a kid but escaped a prison sentence because he bribed the police with his dead parents’ money.

His father was the killer. He is the sole survivor.

Everybody knows that the twins down the block are part of a gang. But they’re terrible fighters. They spend half their time in the hospital.

The twins have a unique protein in their blood that the hospital sorely needs. They donate as much blood as they can and spend the rest of the time resting to recover.

So when ‘everybody knows’ that the old lady in the house beside the train collects human body parts, she pays the old lady a visit anyway. No one else would visit the old lady otherwise.

She almost doesn’t make it out alive.
