Drabble: Expect Something Unexpected

In response to July’s prompt ‘unexpected’.

Genre: suspense

~Expect Something Unexpected~

“Expect something unexpected,” he told her in the morning.

It was late evening now, and her day had been just like every other day. Uneventful, standard, boring.

“Did you find something unexpected?” he asked as they walked home together.

“Do you want to see something unexpected?”

“Close your eyes.”

She closed her eyes. He pulled out a knife and slit her throat. After checking his work, he walked away from the cooling body.

How unfortunate. He would have let her live if she was satisfied with her boring mediocrity. Ah well. It had been an fun few months. Time for the next target.
