Drabble: Secret Inheritance
In response to July’s prompt ‘secret’.
Genre: superhero/villain, superpowers, family
Another day, another successful heist. No one died, and they got their hands one quite the treasure. Once the attention died down, the stolen jewel collection would fetch them a fortune in the black market. Good enough to pay their staff and cover their bills for awhile.
While she had stolen the jewels, her husband pulled attention away from her area by causing a scene three blocks away wearing their shared supervillain persona. Though no one had been hurt, the building didn’t fare as well, and the giant crack along one wall was now the topic of discussion on the news.
“Can I have the car tomorrow?” their son asked.
“I’m going there with my friend tomorrow.” He pointed at the TV screen. “See if we can find any clues that’ll lead us to the villain with the lame hat.”
“Sure. Go ahead.”
They would just have to wait a little longer before they let their son know that the ‘villain with the lame hat’ was part of his inheritance from them.
