Drabble: Reading the Signs

My response to the July prompt ‘sign’.

Genre: general, humour

~Reading the Signs~

“What does the sign say?”

“Don’t jump in, or you’ll turn purple.”

“What did you do?”

“Jump in.”

“And now you’re purple.”

“Who actually believes a stupid sign like that?”

“Everyone else in the class.”

Teacher – 1. Student – 0.

“When you go back home, you will write this sign 50 times and bring it to class tomorrow.”

“What!”

“If you complain, I’ll make it 100 times. If you ‘forget’ to bring it to class, I’ll make it 200 times.”

Teacher – 2. Student – 0.

“Will you read the signs next time?”

Mumble mumble.

“Louder.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Good. Now come here. Let’s wash that purple off.”

~End~
