Drabble: Friendly Musings

The response to the August prompt ‘interesting’. Follows after Late Night Thoughts.

Genre: slice of life

~Friendly Musings~

In their group, they have a chef, an athlete, an inventor, a great conversationalist…

And a curious friend who comes up with the strangest ideas.

The inventor loves the unusual ideas. It gives her tough challenges that she wouldn’t run into otherwise and hones her technique so much more than the plans she creates herself.

The socialiteĀ treasures the wild tangents their inquisitive friend goes off on. He learns a lot from her, and her musings pushes him to look at old news with new perspectives.

For the chef, a talk with her creative friend has a way of turning her kitchen into a science lab. Some experiments end in disaster, but there are plenty of unusual flavour combinations that turn out much better than they first expect.

But of all of them, it’s the athlete who seeks their friend out the most, despite the fact that she’s nowhere near his level when it comes to sports. She compensates her weakness with unparalleled cunning that forces him to up his game to win. Which is exactly why he keeps dragging her along to train together.

They don’t know how they ended up with such an interesting friend, but they know they won’t let her go without a fight.
