Drabble: Offense is the Best Defense
My response to the August prompt ‘attack’.
Genre: fantasy, action
~Offense is the Best Defense~
As a Fighter, her job was simple.
Destroy all monsters.
She was pretty much born for the role. She always had a bunch of extra energy, and killing monsters was a great way to work it off. All she needed was someone to point out a target, and she was good to go.
Like right now. It didn’t matter that they had stumbled into three (or was it five?) monsters. One was all hers. She grinned and descended on it with all four of her blades. Without giving the monster any time to react, she attacked until the monster fell lifeless to the ground.
The captain immediately directed her to another monster. She threw her first set of blades at the monster to mark it as hers, then followed up with her second pair.
It didn’t matter how big or how strong the monsters were. As long as she attacked fast enough, they went down.
She sunk her blade into the monster’s shoulder and launched herself into the air with cheer.
She loved her job.
Check out the companion fic Last Ones Standing.
