Drabble: The Sister

My response to the August prompt ‘protected’. Follows after The Brother.

Genre: family

~The Sister~

Her brother was many things. Strong, smart, stubborn, and only mortal. He was trying very hard to pretend everything was fine, but she didn’t know who he was trying to trick more. Her? Or himself?

Eventually, the inevitable happened. Her brother crumpled to the ground, too faint from blood loss to continue. That was when the remaining three robbers stepped out from their hiding spots behind the trees and closed in on them.

“Run,” her brother rasped.

She shook her head. She wasn’t as good at fighting as her brother, but he had already gotten rid of most of the robbers. All she needed to do was finish the job.

Her brother was many things. Strong, smart, stubborn, and a silly fool who thought too much about her and too little about himself.

Time to return the favour.
