~Twinkle Twinkle Little Mirror, How I Wonder How You Got There~

The mirror twinkled down at her from its cradle of tree branches. She stared up at it while she tried to ignore the three panicked children around her.

How did that mirror get all the way up there in one piece?

The children weren’t very helpful. They just babbled some nonsense about throwing things at the flying monster and accidentally throwing their auntie’s mirror at it too. She didn’t know how these scrawny little arms could possibly lob a mirror all the way up there, but she knew it was better for her to get it than them.

Very carefully, she climbed up the tree to the mirror. No flying monsters attacked her as she took the shiny item and stashed it carefully in her bag. Using the same footholds, she descended and joined the children on solid ground.

“Now, bring me to your auntie,” she said, just in case the mirror wasn’t actually theirs.

It turned out that the children hadn’t lied about the mirror, but how it got up in the tree remained a mystery.

~End~
