Drabble: Sandwich Race

My response to the prompt ‘sandwich‘.

Genre: humour, slice of life

~Sandwich Race~

The boys raced to stuff the massive sandwiches into their mouth.

He sat back in his chair and drank his milkshake.

Last place was easy to pick out. Only the corners of the sandwich had been bitten off, and he was now trying (and failing) to open his mouth wide enough to bite into the sandwich.

Fourth and fifth place was harder to tell apart. Both were halfway through their sandwich, and both looked equally sick from the rapid eating.

Third place had one third to go. Second place only had a quarter left, but he was slowing down. The final results could be surprising.

As for first place, that was already decided way back in the beginning when he devoured his sandwich in two bites.
