Drabble: Movie Night

My response to the prompt ‘hike‘.

Genre: slice of life

~Movie Night~

One moment, they were hiking, the next, they were fighting for their lives in space against assassins trying to kill them because he was the long lost heir to a secret all-powerful family in another world.

“This movie is terrible,” she said as she grabbed more homemade popcorn.

“It’s either that or the cat movie,” he pointed out.

“At least cats are cute.”

They switched channels.

An angry cat soaked to the bones snarled at them.

“Go back?” he asked.

“Go back.”

The two main leads were back on the hiking trail.

“Wait. How? What happened?” she asked.

“Why ask me? I know as much as you do.”

The characters slipped off the path and slid all the way over a cliff. At the last possible moment, the hero’s fingers dug into the edge and his other hand caught the heroine. The advertisement started after the literal cliffhanger.

“Want to play a game?”

“Sure. I bought a new one the other day.”

“Let’s do it.”
