Drabble: Secret Testers of Character

~Secret Testers of Character~

Before they were legends, they were heroes. Before they were heroes, they were tested.

The king/wizard/priest/etc might be the one to send the heroes off on their journey, but how did they know who was hero material?

They got people like her to give hero candidates secret tests of character.

Armed with stealth, discernment, and a talent for pushing people’s buttons, they scouted out the potential heroes, and handed their evaluations over to their clients. Most would heed their advice, but there were always those who thought they knew better.

Those poor wannabe heroes. They were never seen again.
