Short Story: Bold Colours
Genre: slice of life
He paints with boldness. He looks for the darkest black, the brightest white, and the most vibrant hues for every colour in between.
His painting is all about contrast, of bright fires in the coldest snow, of a single orange petal on a deep blue pond. Juxtaposition doesn’t work nearly half as well with colours pretending to be another hue.
(It’s not all about bold colours, his friend protests. They laugh as he pretends to kick her out of his house for that blasphemous comment).
He paints the way he lives. Unapologetic, true to himself, and with vibrant life. Not everyone can take it, but the ones who do, he accepts them no matter their hue.
After all, there is no contrast if everyone is the same.
