Short Story: Epiphany Without Company

“I got it! Father, I got it!” She ran down the stairs two steps at a time, narrowly missed the shoe cabinet (they really needed to move that thing) and burst into her father’s study.

But her father was asleep, sprawled over his desk and exhausted enough that he hadn’t woken at all the noise she made.

Much more quietly than before, she grabbed the throw off the spare chair and draped it over her father.

She would share her epiphany later.
