Short Story: Undercover Queen

The palace was in an uproar. A mountain of gifts in the reception hall had collapsed on the queen.

Everyone dropped everything to dig the queen out of the jumbled mess. Among them, a maid stepped forward, only to be held back by a guard.

“Your majesty, please stay back,” the guard whispered.

“Shh. Don’t blow my cover. I’m not the queen right now. She is.”

With that, the undercover queen slipped past the guard and joined the many helping hands to dig the queen free.
