Short Story: Interim Teacher

On a good day, they barely had enough teachers for their students.

Now, with one teacher who had to move away on short notice, two on maternity leave, and three down with a stubborn case of the flu for the past two weeks, they were in desperate need for more teachers.

How desperate?

He, the neighbourhood dogwalker, was called in as an interim teacher while they looked for replacements.

Children weren’t like dogs. They weren’t trained to heel, and each child made enough ruckus to rival a whole little of puppies.

But there were also similarities. Dogs responded well to treats. So did children.
