Short Story: Exclusive Language

The squiggly symbols meant something. He knew this because all the books were filled with them and everyone wrote their notes in the same unique code. But he couldn’t find any dictionaries that would map the symbols to any writing system he knew, and no one was willing to teach him how to read the exclusive language.

Well, he worked hard to get into the academy, usually reserved for only the offspring of the special families. This was just another step in a long, arduous obstacle course that had been thrown at him since he started his path. If no one was willing to teach him, he would figure the pattern out himself.
